Webschool develops and evaluates technology in areas that include artificial intelligence. This page sets out general responsible-AI principles while keeping a clear boundary between the corporate website webschool.org and any separate Webschool product or customer service.
1. AI on the corporate website
webschool.org does not currently provide an AI chatbot, AI-based personalisation or an AI decision-making service to website visitors. The corporate website is not configured to send visitor behaviour to generative-AI providers for advertising or profiling.
2. General responsible-AI principles
When Webschool evaluates or implements AI in its work, our objective is to apply proportionate controls based on the purpose and risk of the use case. Our general principles include:
- Transparency: make the role of AI understandable where it materially affects a user interaction or output.
- Human oversight: preserve meaningful human review where context, quality, fairness or impact requires it.
- Data minimisation: limit personal data to what is necessary for the intended purpose.
- Security and privacy: assess data flows, suppliers and safeguards before using AI services with personal or confidential information.
- Quality and testing: evaluate outputs and known limitations rather than treating AI-generated results as inherently correct.
- Accessibility and inclusion: consider the needs of different users when designing AI-assisted experiences.
- Purpose limitation: do not reuse data for unrelated AI purposes without an appropriate basis and transparency.
3. Automated decision-making
Webschool does not use AI to make solely automated decisions producing legal or similarly significant effects on individuals.
4. Product-specific information
Specific Webschool products may use AI functionality under separate technical, contractual and privacy arrangements. Those data flows, providers, user notices and controls are outside the scope of this corporate-website page and should be assessed in the documentation applicable to the relevant service.
5. Governance and review
Webschool’s approach to AI is reviewed as technologies, use cases and regulatory requirements evolve. Questions about privacy can be sent to privacy@webschool.org; security concerns can be sent to security@webschool.org.
